Cade Olmstead - Joined the Waverly Youth Symphony in 2014 as the first Conductor. Cade's primary instrument is the bassoon but also plays viola. Cade is passionate about conducting and studies under Dr. Daniel Kaplunas of Wartburg College. He plans to pursue bassoon performance and conducting into college, and hopes to make a full time career of conducting. Cade sought to create the Symphony to provide high school students the opportunity to be apart of a unique ensemble and allow students to continue the development their musical skills during the summer. He believes that the Waverly Youth Symphony will be an important part in the development of the musical culture in the city of Waverly.
"If a picture is worth a thousand words, a piece of music must be an entire biography. We as musicians lift our words off the page and forge a living and breathing force – music. And it is so powerful of a force that it can bring the strongest man to his knees and yet place the weakest man on his feet."
-Cade Olmstead
